The Power of the Penny at Work in the Ferry Pass Neighborhood
Ever wonder how the penny is working in your neighborhood? Find out firsthand on Monday, July 27 at the Ferry Pass Community Center, 8800 N. 9th Avenue starting at 5:30 pm.
Escambia County and District 4 Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger are hosting a free family-friendly community open house so residents can see their pennies at work right in their backyard, starting with the Ferry Pass Community Center — the first and only community center in District 4 — and playground which were funded in part by the Local Option Sales Tax.
Kids can also get hands-on with the county vehicles the penny helps provide, including a fire truck, an ambulance and dump trucks used by public works crews across the county.
It's a simple but important reminder of what the penny means for our community: real playgrounds, real public safety equipment and real investment in the neighborhoods where we live.
